Midway between Chicago and the state capitol Springfield, lies Funk's Grove, a wooded hamlet founded in the early 19th century by the Funk family, who have been producing Maple Sirup for generations. Descendants of the original Funk family still sell the sweet sirup from the back porch of their saphouse.
